Four pallets of food rolled into the Tuskegee University Tiger Den Food Pantry on the lower level of Tompkins Hall, where students can shop weekly for various items.

“We should do it more than once a year,” said Darrius Campbell, a Kroger manager from the store in Auburn. He and other store and student volunteers helped to unload and stock the pantry with items donated from the grocery story. Kroger also gave the university $2,000 in gift cards to purchase other items as needed.

Inside plastic shrink wrap, Fruit Loops, Frosted Flakes, Apple Jacks, peanut butter, peanuts, cream of chicken soup and various other canned goods were rolled into the space, ready to be neatly stacked for student shopping.

“Tuskegee University is proud to partner with organizations like Kroger to support our students through the Tiger Den Food Pantry,” said Abena Myers-Taylor, Associate Vice President of Student Affairs.  “Our students who use the pantry and those who volunteer here appreciate Kroger’s continued partnership and generosity.”

The university allows students to visit the pantry weekly to receive six food items and one personal or household item.
