Tuskegee University Education majors are regularly exposed to opportunities after graduation to begin teaching careers. But there are a host of opportunities working in K-12 schools that are for students majoring in other areas.
The School of Education is hosting Career Fair: Opportunities in K-12 Schools for Every Major from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 28 in Logan Hall to expose the campus and community to careers supporting schools that do not involve teaching.
“We want to ensure Tuskegee students know that working in education is not limited to teaching in the classroom,” said Dr. Brooke Burks, Dean of the School of Education. “There are roles in information technology, counseling, nutrition sciences, and more. This allows us to introduce our students to school administrators and hear directly from them about career opportunities.”
Tuskegee has entered its Renaissance Era of transformation and creating opportunities for students to earn certifications, be exposed to internships and prepared to begin careers after graduating.
“We are partnering with a number of school districts to introduce them to our students,” said Dr. Jacqueline Brooks, Assessment and Field Placement Coordinator for the School of Education. “Our goal is to ensure our students know that education as a profession extends beyond instruction. We build leaders at Tuskegee, and communities around the country need them, regardless of their major.”
