Dr. Sean Edmund Rogers is Named New Dean of Tuskegee University Business School

Tuskegee University is pleased to announce that Dr. Sean Edmund Rogers has been appointed the new Dean of the Andrew F. Brimmer College of Business and Information Science.
 
The accomplished educator, administrator, scholar and teacher has more than 25 years of experience spanning academic leadership and faculty service, corporate roles and military service in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force.
 
Dr. Rogers served most recently as dean of the University of Rhode Island College of Business, where he also held the Alfred J. Verrecchia-Hasbro Inc. Leadership Chair in Business. During his tenure as dean, their college of business achieved record application and enrollment levels, increased student job placement rates and implemented curriculum updates and new undergraduate and graduate degree programs aligned with market trends, employer demands and Artificial Intelligence and technological innovations.

The mission of the Brimmer College of Business & Information Science is to challenge its students with a liberal, technical, and professional education through the faculty’s intellectual contributions, innovative research, effective pedagogy, and community engagement. Graduates are expected to be well-informed, ethical, and responsible citizens engaging in lifelong learning and succeeding in a global society.
 
The College of Business includes the Accounting, Economics and Finance Department, the Computer Science Department and the Management Department.
 
Prior to entering higher education, Dr. Rogers worked in finance, industrial engineering, and marketing at several airlines and transportation companies, including US Airways, America West Airlines, ATA Airlines, AirTran Airways, and UPS. He is a U.S. Army combat veteran and currently serves in the U.S. Air Force Reserve as a Medical Service Corps officer.
 
A recognized expert in human resources and labor relations, Dr. Rogers is the author of more than 30 peer-reviewed scholarly publications and two books. He earned his Ph.D. in industrial relations and human resources from Rutgers University, a Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership from Brown University, a Master of Studies in Law from Wake Forest University School of Law, a Master of Education in Human Resource Development from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Aviation Business from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
 
He also holds two professional certifications – the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) – as well as a graduate certificate in organizational leadership from Bethune-Cookman University.
 
“Dr. Rogers brings the kind of experience Tuskegee needs at this time,” said Dr. Thierno Thiam, Provost and Senior Vice President. “Our students are going to be pushed to expand their interest and experience in all areas to prepare them for a competitive workforce after graduation.”
 
A native of Inglewood, California, Dr. Rogers is married to Dr. Carmen Marie Rogers, and they have two children, Jackson and Olivia. He is a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
