In a three-day celebration Aug. 28—Aug. 30 that honors the history and legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen, Tuskegee University will host its first Red Tails Classic Weekend in Montgomery filled with activities for supporters, students interested in STEM and football fans ready to watch Tuskegee take on the University of West Alabama at the Cramton Bowl on Sunday.
The weekend kicks off Friday with a golf tournament to raise money for scholarships and a workforce summit featuring Alabama employers. On Saturday, high school students interested in learning more about STEM will have a day of activities on the riverfront and friends of the university will enjoy a gala whose mission is to raise funds for students while highlighting the mission of the Renaissance Era.

Saturday
- STEM Exploration Day for K-12 on the Montgomery riverfront from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- The Red Tails Classic Weekend gala from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Sunday
- The Red Tails Classic game at Cramton Bowl is at 7 p.m.

“This is a first-of-its-kind celebration,” said Dr. Mark A. Brown, President and CEO. “We are honoring a generation of men who served our nation honorably despite extraordinary circumstances, while creating an opportunity for students who are interested in the sciences and potentially aviation to explore those areas in an engaging way. We will also host generous supporters who are interested in learning more about how they can become a part of Tuskegee’s Renaissance Era.”
The Red Tails Classic STEM Exploration Day will introduce students in K-12 to a range of academic programs, careers and opportunities through STEM education on the Montgomery Riverfront. Students receive a STEM Passport and collect stamps at each station.
The event will celebrate the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen while inspiring the next generation of agriculture and environmental sciences, veterinary medicine, engineering, aviation and aerospace, artificial intelligence, business, cybersecurity and digital innovation, said Dr. Courtney Griffin, Director of Admissions.
The university will open the weekend on Friday with a golf tournament, the Tuskegee Talent Summit and Workforce Solutions Forum, where employers will engage future leaders who are prepared to deliver results upon graduation. Alabama employers include those in aviation, robotics, nursing, education and more.
“In our Renaissance Era, Tuskegee University is committed to ensuring our graduates walk across the stage with employment in their areas of interest and roles needed, particularly in the state of Alabama,” said Dr. Brown. “This weekend creates educational opportunities and a platform for supporters to learn more about the state-of-the-art preparation our students receive at Tuskegee.”
