It was a great night for the Golden Tigers last week when they bested the Benedict College Tigers 20-17 under the bright lights at Cleve Abbott Stadium, technology made possible by Alabama Power.

Before the game, Alabama Power officials met with the brightest lights at Tuskegee, scholars who are well on their way to successful futures. Through investments in technology upgrades and learning resources across multiple academic buildings, Alabama Power is helping enhance Tuskegee’s rigorous student success model which is preparing students to graduate ready to compete and win in the global economy.

The group gathered at the Brimmer College of Business and Information Science building, where Alabama Power’s investment includes a large NASDAQ stock market ticker that provides students with real-time access to market data and performance trends.  Students leverage this financial tool for hands-on coursework and market analysis furthering their career-readiness.

Alabama Power RecpetionAlabama Power’s investment in the university also includes twelve digital boards in four buildings across campus, providing dynamic platforms that share information, celebrate student accomplishments and highlight academic and career opportunities.  Some of the boards are being used to showcase the students, most of whom have completed multiple competitive internships and have career-launching job offers already awaiting their graduation.

“The generous support of Alabama Power is advancing the futures of Tuskegee students who are ready to compete and win in the global economy,” said Dr. Mark A. Brown, President and CEO. “And you’re standing right here with some of them, all excelling in every aspect of their development as future leaders – at Tuskegee we talk about that well-rounded development in terms of inspiring the hand, the head and the heart of every student, which ties directly to our founding mission more than 145 years ago.  We are grateful to Alabama Power for what we believe is a wise investment in these future global game-changers.”

Three of the students have gained professional experience through internships with Alabama Power, including Sydnee Allen, a mechanical engineering major from Birmingham, Alabama. Last summer, she worked as a distribution engineering intern in Alabama Power’s Southeast Division. She also completed a co-op internship in 2025 at the corporate office.

Alabama Power Reception “My responsibilities included designing and processing jobs for customers, assisting with storm response efforts, and learning about the power grid and Alabama Power’s distribution operations,” said Allen whose GPA is 4.0. She includes in her favorite work experiences with the company, “working seven consecutive hours of storm duty, where I restored power to 200+ customers.”

Alabama Power serves nearly 1.5 million customers and in 2025 supported organizations throughout the state with more than $13 million in philanthropic giving.
