Picture of gospel artist Vickie WinansTuskegee University will welcome award-winning gospel artist Vickie Winans to perform during its Ecumenical Service on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025, at 10 a.m. in the Tuskegee University Chapel.

The service, part of the university’s Investiture Weekend, will also feature guest speaker Dr. Bill Winston ’67, senior pastor of Living Word Christian Center. The weekend celebrates the installation of Dr. Mark A. Brown ’86, the first alumnus to serve as Tuskegee’s 10th president and CEO.

Known as “the hardest working woman in gospel music,” Winans has spent more than 40 years lifting audiences with her captivating vocals, comedic personality, and powerful ministry. A Grammy-nominated, Stellar Award- and NAACP Award-winning artist, she has released multiple acclaimed albums and has performed at venues ranging from churches to Carnegie Hall. She is also the president of her own Detroit-based management company, Viviane, Inc., and continues to perform nearly 200 shows annually.

Her warm spirit, sense of humor, and down-to-earth manner have made her one of the most beloved figures in gospel music. In 2015, she was inducted into the inaugural Stellar Awards Honor of Distinction Club alongside President Barack Obama. Winans is also a proud mother to her two sons, Mario and Marvin Winans, Jr., both accomplished producers and artists, and a grandmother she lovingly calls “Nannie.”

The Ecumenical Service is free and open to the public. In accordance with campus safety protocols, all attendees must also complete a visitor’s pass request form. For more details on Investiture weekend activities, visit: www.tuskegee.edu/inauguration.
