Founded in 1942 by Dr. Thomas Monroe Campbell, the nation’s first Black Cooperative Extension Agent, the PAWC was created to promote collaboration among agricultural professionals serving Black farmers and rural communities. What began as a regional meeting has grown into an international platform addressing food security, environmental change, and agricultural innovation. Today, PAWC continues to honor its founders’ vision by advancing leadership, research, and outreach that support underserved and underrepresented communities.
