About Us

Tuskegee University is excited to host Mini Meat Camp, a two-week, hands-on meat science summer program designed for high school students interested in agriculture, livestock, food systems, and meat production. Held June 7–June 20, 2026, this immersive experience introduces students to the science, technology, and career pathways behind where our food comes from.

During Mini Meat Camp, students will engage in experiential learning that blends laboratory work, field exposure, and leadership development. Participants gain insight into college-level expectations while exploring agriculture and food science through a fun, interactive, and educational lens.

Mini Meat Camp Options

Mini Meat Camp

A two-week, hands-on meat science summer program for high school students exploring agriculture, livestock, food systems, and sustainable meat production through labs, field trips, and leadership activities.

MeatMe Grad

A seven-week, paid undergraduate summer experience focused on hands-on laboratory learning, leadership development, and professional training in meat science and food systems, with housing and meals provided.

Students selected to participate will gain valuable experience through labs, workshops, field trips, and collaborative activities designed to build confidence, curiosity, and career readiness

Program Experience

 

Throughout the two-week program, students will:

 

  • Conduct hands-on laboratory experiments and develop real product formulations

  • Visit meat processing facilities and the local stockyard

  • Participate in leadership development seminars, workshops, and team-building activities

  • Engage in lab-based learning projects that introduce meat science and food safety concepts

 

This program is ideal for students interested in agriculture, food science, veterinary medicine, animal science, or sustainability, as well as those who want a deeper understanding of modern food systems

Stipend

 

MEATMe GRAD is a paid undergraduate summer program. Selected participants receive a stipend to support their involvement in hands-on laboratory training, professional development, and applied learning in meat science and food systems. Additional program benefits, including housing and meals, may be provided. Specific stipend amounts and payment details are shared with accepted students.

 

Mini Meat Camp is a non-paid educational summer program. Participants do not receive a stipend for attendance. Instead, students benefit from an immersive, hands-on learning experience that includes laboratory activities, field visits, leadership development, and exposure to careers in agriculture and meat science.

 

Application Deadline

All applications must be submitted by January 31, 2026. Early registration is recommended due to limited capacity.
