Tuskegee University offers a rich portfolio of summer programs designed to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, educators, and community leaders. From hands-on agricultural research and STEM innovation to youth leadership and teacher professional development, these experiences connect learning in the classroom to real-world challenges in Alabama and beyond.

K-12 Student Programs

Agri-TREK

A 2-week summer program for high school students (grades 9–11) exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, and Mathematics through hands-on learning and problem-based projects.

Alabama Youth Institute

A 1-day experience connecting high school students with leaders to explore global challenges and develop solutions. Participants may qualify for all-expense-paid international internships or paid research placements through the World Food Prize network.

CISC Summer Experience Internship (SEI)

Hands-on internships for high school students in Alabama’s Black Belt region to learn agricultural extension, research fundamentals, and community leadership.

4-H EXERT Summer Camp

A 6-day residential camp at Camp Chandler for students in grades 5–9 featuring sessions in Money Management, Culinary Science, Agriculture, Water Quality, Yoga, leadership, and team-building.

Forestry & Natural Resources (FNR)-TREK

A 2-week summer program introducing students to forestry, wildlife, and natural resources through outdoor learning, field activities, and applied environmental science.

Mini Meat Camp

A 2-month learning experience focused on meat science, organic food production, and sustainable agriculture practices.

Organic Farming Summer Experiential Program

A two-month hands-on summer experience for high school students interested in organic agriculture, sustainable farming practices, and real-world crop and soil management.

Verizon Innovative Learning STEM Achievers

A free, 3-week STEM enrichment program for middle school students from under-resourced schools. Includes real-world projects, coding, design thinking, 3D printing, AR, and entrepreneurship.

K-12 Educator Programs

Digital Ag Immersion

Hands-on training for educators integrating agriculture, technology, and computer science to support innovation in digital agriculture.

Genomics & Biotechnology Workshop

A professional development experience that engages high school science teachers in plant genomics, biotechnology fundamentals, and laboratory-based instruction.

Geospatial Education & Training (GET) Workshop for Teachers

A two-day workshop for minority-serving educators introducing geospatial technologies, GIS, GPS, and mapping tools for teaching and community applications.

Verizon Innovative Learning – Teacher Workshop

A two-day STEM professional development workshop for teachers focusing on design thinking, 3D modeling, AR/VR, coding, robotics, and strategies to secure funding for STEM expansion.
