Dr. Marceline Egnin Named 2026 Distinguished Scientist Award Recipient

Tuskegee University professor recognized by the Society for In Vitro Biology for outstanding contributions to in vitro sciences

The Tuskegee University College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences is pleased to announce that Dr. Marceline Egnin has been named the 2026 Distinguished Scientist Award recipient by the Society for In Vitro Biology.

The Distinguished Scientist Award recognizes Dr. Egnin’s outstanding contributions and achievements in the in vitro sciences. Her involvement, dedication, and leadership within the Society have impacted the careers of many students, young scientists, and colleagues.

Dr. Egnin has served Tuskegee University for more than 20 years and is a professor in the Plant Biotechnology and Genomics Research Lab.

Through her work, Dr. Egnin has contributed to research, teaching, mentoring, and scientific advancement in plant biotechnology and genomics. Her career reflects Tuskegee University’s continued commitment to discovery, innovation, and student development in the agricultural sciences.

One of Dr. Egnin’s recent publications focused on the research article titled, “Establishment of Efficient CRISPR-Cas9 PEG-Mediated DNA-Free Genome Editing Through Ribonucleoproteins Method in Hexaploid Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L. (Lam)) Targeting the EIF-4E Genes.”

This research highlights the importance of advanced plant biotechnology tools and their potential to support innovation in crop improvement and agricultural research.

Dr. Egnin will receive the Distinguished Scientist Award during the Plant Biotechnology Section Meeting of the Society for In Vitro Biology on Monday, June 8.
