MS Degree in Environmental Science Program
The department offers two graduate training programs in the Environmental Sciences area, including the Master of Science in Environmental Sciences (Thesis [Residential Only] and Non-Thesis [Residential and Online] options), and the Master of Science in Environmental Management (Non-Thesis option, Online Only).
Students complete approximately 30 credit hours that include either a research thesis (thesis option) or a professional project (non-thesis option). Students interested in graduate study within environmental sciences and management, including natural resources, can select from specialty areas such as climate change, watershed management, environmental health, fate and transport of environmental toxicants, soil health, and nutrient and ecosystem management.
This program is flexible in terms of research and coursework so that students can achieve their career goals and individual objectives.

➤ Learn MoreThe Master of Science in Environmental Sciences program (non-thesis only) is designed for working professionals and others who wish to complete an advanced degree without disrupting their careers.
This interdisciplinary program includes core and elective coursework with concentration areas selected in consultation with an advisory committee. Students complete a total of 32 credit hours, including a 6-credit project.
Training areas include climate change, watershed management, environmental health, fate and transport of environmental toxicants, soil health, and nutrient and ecosystem management. Projects are designed to meet student needs and may be completed in collaboration with employers.
