Karrington Taylor: CAENS Ambassador Builds Clinical Skills Through Mobile Vet Internship

Persistence and flexibility earned this animal science student hands-on experience with The Pet Fixer Mobile Veterinary Services

Congratulations to CAENS Ambassador Karrington Taylor for completing an internship in Chamblee, Ga., with The Pet Fixer Mobile Veterinary Services. Taylor worked as a veterinary technician, where she strengthened her clinical skills by performing X-rays, assisting with routine surgeries, filling prescriptions, and providing compassionate care to patients.

Karrington is hardworking and participates in several organizations on campus, including serving as lead equipment manager for the Tuskegee University Marching Crimson Pipers Band. She is also part of the Block and Bridle and Ocean Exploration clubs, among others. It is her dedication and persistence that helped her land the internship.

"I think people should know that I got my internship by being very persistent and flexible!" Taylor said. "Pet-Fixer Mobile Veterinary Service is an hour away from my home. Dr. Danielle LaMarr (Dr. Dani), the owner, picked me not because of my accolades, but because I was very persistent and willing to work with her."

Taylor is originally from Houston, Texas, but grew up in McDonough, Ga., where she attended Union Grove High School. "After college, I will be applying — and getting into — veterinary school to earn my DVM, after which I will most likely work in a mixed practice or as an exotic vet," Taylor said.

During her internship, she applied classroom knowledge in a clinical setting while gaining valuable hands-on experience alongside veterinary professionals. Experiences like this prepare students to become the next generation of leaders in animal health.
